William M. Cowgill, Jr., age 76, of Greenville, passed away in the late evening hours of Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 25, 1934 in Dallas to William M. and Ardis Hood Cowgill, they preceded him in death. After attending college, William married Eldora Rose on April 7, 1954 and together they spent the next 56 years raising a family and creating a lifetime of memories. Mr. Cowgill was a retired engineer. He spent countless hours raising his animals and tending to the farm. In his free time he could be found bowling, fishing, and racing cars but his greatest love was his family. He was most proud of being a husband, father and grandfather and never missed the opportunity to cheer on his kids at their sporting events. William leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love that will be carried on in the lives of those he touched. He is survived by wife, Eldora; children, Ardis Klein of Greenville, Ernestine Miller of Sherman, William M. Cowgill III of Point, Nettie Cowgill of Cook City, Montana, Doree Brown, and husband Chris, of Dallas, Ralph Cowgill of Greenville, and Sue Reece, and husband Gary, of Shreveport, Louisiana; one brother, Orville Cowgill, and wife Joy, of Mesquite; eleven grandchildren, Aaron Barrett and wife Lena, Avery Ryan and husband Colton, Morgan Bowman, Calyn Brown, Ashley Cowgill, Austin Brown, Kadee Miller, Hannah Cowgill, Ralph Cowgill, Jr., and Mason M. Cowgill; and one great-grandchild, Karson M. Barrett. Services for William M. Cowgill, Jr. will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Peters Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 " 8 P.M. Friday evening at the funeral home.
