Vernie Louise Rogers, age 74, of Commerce, passed away in the late morning hours Tuesday, November 24, 2009 surrounded by her family. She was born on August 17, 1935 in Hunt County to George Franklin and Thelma Gray Roberts, they precede her in death. On December 24, 1954, Vernie married Bobby Ray Rogers and together raised 6 children. She worked and retired as home health care nurse. She is survived by two daughters, Kay Lowery (Gary) of Campbell and Mae Lathrop (Ronnie) of Commerce and two sons, David Rogers (Janice) of Little Rock, Arkansas and Allen Rogers of Greenville and daughter-in-laws Julie Rogers Klutts (Ronnie) of Lone Oak and Pam Rogers of Idabel, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Rhonda Close, Chris Lowery, Michael Lowery, Bobby Rogers, Brittni Rogers (BJ), Gregory Rogers, Dale Early, Dillon Rogers, David Lee Rogers; eight great-grandchildren Taylor, Tara, Heagen, Mezmerize, Richard, Jace, Kyla and Layla; Three sisters, Ann Foreman (Charles) of Emory, Maxie Vick (Aubrey) of Terrell and Sue Donaldson of Seagoville and one brother Jim Roberts (Jay Nell) of Point and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, grandson, son-in-law, two sisters and two brothers. Funeral services for Mrs. Rogers will be held on Friday, November 27 at 2:00 PM at Peters Funeral Home with Dr. Daniel Sue officiating with cremation to follow.
