Velma White

Velma Owen White, age 95, of Commerce, passed away in the afternoon hours of Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the Hunt Regional Community Hospital at Commerce. Ms. White was born on September 20, 1913, in Josephine, Texas, to Richard Alexander and Eleanor Meatta Kluttz Julian. She was one of nine children and the last surviving child of this generation. She married Leslye Lee White on August 10, 1937 and together had four children. Ms. White was a proud mother and homemaker and member of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Survivors include sons, Ronald White, and wife Paula, and Jackie Don White, all of Commerce, and Monty Keith White, and wife Faye, of Greenville, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Ms. White was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leslye; one daughter, Margaret Pope; four brothers, Aurthur Julian, Jessie Julian, Monroe Julian, and John Julian; and four sisters, Mary Belle Moore, Annie Rosenbalmn, Minnie Julian, and Lela Julian. Services for Ms. Velma White will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Peters Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sonora Cemetery with Ben White, Billy White, Jeff White, Dwayne Pope, Tommy Faulknor, and Marcus Don Shelton serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6 " 8 P.M. Monday, March 23, 2009.
