Una M. Makin, 92, passed quietly away on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 in Greenville, Texas. Una was born April 22, 1919 to Polk and Ethyl Mays in Joseph, OR. In 1938, Una met and married her life-partner, Alfred Makin also of Joseph, OR. Una was a careful homemaker, wife and mother. She also served as Postmaster of Joseph, OR for many years; owned a restaurant; cultiviated a garden and was famous for her jams and pies. Una had many passions in her life but her greatest life long passion was to the Rebekahs. Una was an active life-long member and past President of the Rebekahs of Oregon. Una was alway known for her open arms and open heart. She would meet a stranger and part as friends. This is a woman whose smile and hugs will truly be missed. Una is preceded in death by her parents Polk and Ethyl Mays; her husband, Alfred; a brother Daryl Mays and a sister,Reva. Those left to celebrate her life include her son, Ron Makin and his wife Adaleen; grandson Gregory Makin; granddaughter Kim Daniels and her husband, Scott; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Brooke and Kaitlyn Daniels. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Peters Funeral Home in Greenville, Texas. Interment will be in Joseph, OR.
