Thomas Bartz

Thomas Albert Bartz, age 60, of Greenville, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 6, 2010. He was born July 25, 1949 in the Bronx, New York, the son of Albert and Ann Bartz. Tom was a special and giving man who changed the lived of everyone he met. He will be remembered as a man of honor, serving his country in the United States Marine Corps through the Vietnam War and was awarded nine metals throughout his career, retiring as a First Sergeant after twenty years of service. He then became a Nevada Highway Patrolman in Las Vegas. After moving to Greenville, he became a Bailiff for the Hunt County Court House. Because of Toms tenacity, devotion and experience he was then appointed Security Chief setting a new standard of excellence in government security. When Tom wasnt working, he liked to spend his time fishing. He was on a constant quest to catch a bigger bass and was referred to as The Bass Master . Tom also organized bass fishing tournaments for the past ten years. He is survived by wife, Shirley Bartz; his two daughters, Lynnea Lucas, Jennifer Cordova and husband Terry; his son Thomas Bartz, Jr. and wife Amber; two adopted sons, Jerry and Jesse Bartz; his sister Bernadette Gonzalez; seven grandchildren, Tayler and Tierra Cordova, Katya Bartz, Allison and Joey Lucas, Morgann and Heather Bartz. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ann Marie Snyder, and two brothers, Richard and Albert Bartz. He will forever be in our hearts and souls. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 P.M., Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Greenville Bible Church (5901 Jack Finney Blvd, Greenville, TX 75401), under the direction of Bro. Jim Corbet.
