Thomas Loyd Backus, age 75, of Dallas, formerly of Greenville, passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Doctors Hospital in Dallas. He was born on November 6, 1935 in Greenville to Percy D. and Ludia Louise (Kerby) Backus, they preceded him in death. Mr. Backus owned and operated the Garland Easton Mobil Station and the Lake Highlands Mobil Station until his retirement. Mr. Backus is survived by one son, Kenneth Backus, and wife Rita, of Coppell; one daughter, Kay Backus Peterson of Greenville; one sister, Louise Foote; and three brothers, Wayne Backus of Heath, Kerby Backus of Austin, and Mason Backus of San Angelo. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Henry Backus. Services for Mr. Thomas L. Backus will be held at 12:00 P.M. (Noon), Friday, December 10, 2010 at Peters Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park with Chris Backus, Darren Backus, Ronnie Boule, John Ed Foote, Joseph Killgore, and David Pearl serving as pallbearers. A visitation will begin at 10:30 A.M. Friday morning at the funeral home.
