Terry Lee Johnson, a kind and welcoming individual, passed away peacefully in Fate, Texas on January 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 13th, 1947, in Anna, Illinois to Lee Charles Johnson and Clorene Emery Johnson and married the love of his life Bonnie Ferguson on June 7, 1969, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Terry had a successful career with GTE/Verizon, where he made significant contributions during his time with the company. His strong work ethic and dedication were admired by his colleagues and led to many accomplishments throughout his professional journey.
Outside of work Terry cherished spending quality time with his beloved wife Bonnie. They shared numerous memorable experiences together and their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them. Family was of utmost importance to Terry, and he adored being in the company of his loved ones.
Terry's family meant the world to him. He was a devoted husband to Bonnie, father to Teresa Ward and her husband D. Lynn, as well as Todd Johnson and his wife Susie. His grandchildren and great grandchildren held a special place in his heart: Jason Lynn and his wife Kelsie, Jessica Lynn, Dawson Ward, Todd Allan Johnson, Jr., Liam Lynn, and Phoebe Lynn. Terry took immense joy in watching each of them grow and achieve their dreams.
In addition to his immediate family members, Terry is survived by his brother Jimmy Dale Johnson and wife Linda, his brother-in-law William Ferguson, and an abundance of nieces, nephews, and cousins from Louisiana and Illinois. Their close-knit relationships brought warmth and love into Terry's life.
Terry and Bonnie were avid fishermen and competed in tournaments for many years as members of several Texas fishing groups. They became very close to the other couples they would compete against and considered them more like family rather than friends. More times than not, if you needed to find the Johnsons, they were on the lake fishing together.
Terry's years of service in the Air Force also played a significant role in shaping who he was as an individual. His dedication to serving his country demonstrated his strong sense of patriotism and selflessness.
Terry Lee Johnson will be remembered for his kind-hearted nature, welcoming demeanor, and the love he shared with his family. His legacy will continue to live on through the cherished memories he leaves behind.
As we bid farewell to Terry, let us reflect on the immense joy and positivity he brought into our lives. May his soul rest in eternal peace, forever grateful for having had the privilege of calling him husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life once the spring season starts.
