Sussie Howe Strawn, a beloved figure in our community, has left us at the age of 75. Born on November 24, 1947 to James and Alma Howe in New Orleans, LA. Sussie lived a life full of love, kindness, and joy. Sussie peacefully passed away on August 27, 2023, which left a void in the hearts of all who knew her. Sussie married Barney Lee Strawn on January 9, 1966 in Denison, TX.
Sussie dedicated many years of her life working as an executive housekeeper. Her attention to detail and unwavering commitment to excellence made her an invaluable asset to every establishment she served. She took great pride in her work and always ensured that every space she touched emanated warmth and comfort.
While Sussie's career was impressive, it was her love for her family that truly defined her. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her loved ones. Whether it was organizing family gatherings or simply sharing a warm meal together, Sussie cherished these moments with all her heart. She had an innate ability to make everyone feel welcomed and loved, and her family will forever treasure those memories.
Known for her kind and welcoming nature, Sussie had a magnetic personality that lit up any room she entered. Her infectious smile could brighten even the darkest day, and her presence brought comfort to those in need. She had a unique way of making each person feel seen and cared for, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.
Sussie is survived by her daughter, Sussie Lee Garcia and her husband, Antonio (Sanger, TX., and Shannon Marie Radney and her husband, Mike (Campbell, TX.), son, Barney McCoy Strawn (Sulphur Springs, TX.), granddaughters, Crystal Woolsey, Jaycee Radney, Merci Radney, Maegan Strawn, and Heather Strawn; grandsons, Justin Overly, Trenton Overly, Micah Radney, Preston Garcia, Barney Strawn, Patrick Radney, Jacob Radney, Christopher Radney, and Caleb Radney; great-granddaughters, Kynlee Hargrove, Emmalyn Overly, and Kaius Overly; great-grandsons, Levi Woolsey and Noah Woolsey; sister, Helen Stoff (Denison, TX.) as well as numerous numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Barney Lee Strawn; mother, Alma Bates Howe, father, James Howe as well as eight siblings.
Sussie will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known her. Her legacy will forever live on through the memories she created, the joy she shared, and the love she bestowed upon us all.
Rest in eternal peace, dear Sussie. Thank you for blessing our lives with your presence.
