Ruth Ann (Wilburn) Cobb
Ruth, also known as “Rooster” in her younger years, was born on August 31, 1940, to Alowilda (Davis) and Delbert Wilburn. She was born in a tiny farming community called Aberfoyle, Texas. Little did she know she would be the oldest of five children. Her mother had to stay on her toes to keep up with Ruth, Barbara, Truett, Debbie and Jimmy. Being raised in the country, Ruth loved to fish and knew the value of a hard day's work. She also knew how to save her money, and from this, her love of “junking” and “antiquing” was born.
When Ruth met David, they soon formed their own little blended family. Ruth, and son Randy, soon joined up with David and son, Dana “Bud” and daughter Jane “Susie”, but they didn’t stop there. They soon added a newborn daughter, Kimberly, to their family. They raised their family in Dallas until moving to Lake Tawakoni. She soon returned home to the Wolfe City area in 1998.
Her greatest joy was her family. Her home was always the gathering place to celebrate the holidays. She entertained her siblings as well as their entire families. Everyone was welcome. If you knew Ruth, you knew her love language was food. Anyone who graced her doorstep would normally hear the words, “Are you hungry? What can I get you?” or “Sit down and I’ll get us some coffee”.
Ruth passed away on March 8, 2025, in Greenville, Texas. She left many loved ones behind who will miss her dearly. But we are comforted with the knowledge that she has joined other family members and friends in heaven and will be waiting for us to join her.
