Roy G. Gideon, age 68, of Greenville, passed away in the early evening hours of Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville. He was born on February 20, 1942 in Clayton, Oklahoma to Clyde and Nova Thames Gideon, they preceded him in death. Mr. Gideon worked with his hands all his life. He retired from a glass company in Dallas but is most known for his skills as a home builder. Those who knew Roy will miss his jokes and his friendly demeanor. He never met a stranger and a bad word could never be said about him. Throughout his life he loved to play baseball and softball but was truly proud of all the lives he touched and kids he guided through life on the diamond and off of it as a coach and mentor. Mr. Gideon is survived by his wife Margit Gideon, of Greenville; two daughters, Tammy Bowles, and husband Donald, and Teena Preston, and husband Richard, both of Cash; grandchildren, Shane Adams, Mandi Toms, Derek Adams, Ray Woodard, Zack Adams, and Randall Preston; great-grandchildren, Steven Toms, D. J. Adams, Brandon Toms, Dillon Adams, and Bailey Toms; two brothers, Charles Gideon of Rowlett and Tony Gideon of Mesquite; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Gideon and one brother Johnny Gideon. Services for Mr. Gideon will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gary Griffin officiating. Visitation will be from 6 " 8 P.M. Friday evening at the funeral home.
