Rita Lavern Ranney finally got to see her Lord face to face on Tuesday, December 1, 2009. After a long and courageous battle, she passed away peacefully at the home of Daymon and Kathy Wallace in Alba. She was born to Hilton Wallace and Murline Chapin on March 8, 1948 in Greenville, Texas. She was a member of the Johnson Street Church of Christ. She leaves behind her fianc and best friend Bobby Carrell of Celeste, mother, Murline Chapin of Celeste, daughter and son-in-law, Tiger and Jean Douglas of Okay, Oklahoma, brothers and sisters in law, Windell and Marsha Wallace of Celeste, Daymon and Kathy Wallace of Alba, and Dale and Linda Wallace of Hulbert, Oklahoma, one sister and brother in law, Ruby and Bill Skinner of Clarksville, three grandchildren that she loved more than life itself, Jodie Fulton, Chase Lewis, and Charity (C.J.) Lewis, one great granddaughter, Zoey Fulton, who unfortunately she never got to meet, and numerous nieces and nephews who loved and adored her dearly and who will miss her terribly. She was preceded in death by her father, Hilton Wallace and son Brian Wayne Lewis. Services for Mrs. Ranney are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, December 4 at Peters Funeral Home in Greenville with Randy Daw officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Valley Cemetery with Dale Wallace, Jeremy Wallace, Randell Fouse, James Dale Fouse, Jesse Wallace, and Daymon Wallace Jr. (Bubba) serving as pallbearers and Willie Fouse and Jason Fouse serving as honorary pallbearers.
