Rebecca Hodgson Potts, formerly Rebecca Cathey, age 86, of Greenville, passed away in the afternoon hours of Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Greencrest Manor in Greenville. She was born on September 4, 1923 in Loving, New Mexico to Alonzo Hugh and Kate Smith Hodgson; they preceded her in death. Rebecca attended Southern Methodist University. She owned and operated Greenville Glass & Mirror for over 50 years. Ms. Potts was an active business woman in the Greenville community throughout her life and was proud of her various activities. She was instrumental in bringing the first Womans Shelter to Greenville and was a member and office holder in the Order of the Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi, and Lioness lnternational. Those who knew Rebecca best would call her an entertainer. She at one time owned and operated her own plane, and had a lake house at which she would welcome friends and family throughout the summers. Ms. Potts' life was marked by large steps for a woman in her time but will be mostly remembered for all the small things she did for those she knew and loved. She is survived by one stepdaughter, Janice Dodd of Garland; one step-grand daughter, Keri Dodd of Mesquite; one step-great-grand daughter, Tara Dodd of Dallas; brothers, A.H. Hodgson of Atlanta, Tx, and Walker Hodgson of Austin; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is also preceded in death by husbands Jim Cathey and Charles Potts; brothers, Leon Hodgson, Kenneth Hodgson, and sisters Ethyl Boyd, Dela Mae Russell and Gertrude Evans. Services for Ms. Potts will be held at 11am Saturday May 29, 2010 at Peters Funeral Home with Thom Justice officiating. Burial will follow at Hooker cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimers Association or the Arthritis Foundation.
