Ralph Henry Hollywood, born November 24, 1923 in Dallas, Texas passed away July 27, 2009 in Greenville, Texas. Anyone who knew Ralph knew of the tremendous pride he took in his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Linda Hollywood of Greenville, Tx; daughter, Jill Hay of Sequim, WA; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Shirley Hollywood of Combine, Tx; granddaughters, Holly Satsky of New Braunfels, Stacie Hollywood Baber of Forney, Crystal Hollywood-Rodriguez of Forney; grandson, Spencer Hay of Sequim, WA, and great-grandchildren, Luke, Travis, and Kylie, all of Forney. He was also loved and admired by many nieces, nephews, his step-children, and step grandchildren. Ralph was born to William Henry and Besha Jane Hollywood. He attended Austin College in Sherman, Texas on an athletic scholarship. In 1943 he joined the Marine Corp during the war, later completing his degree. He received his Masters Degree at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas in 1951. Ralph married Patty Sue Lott in 1949 in Belton, Tx. Most people knew Ralph as Coach Hollywood. He was an Assistant Football Coach in Navarro College, Corsicana, and Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, and Head Football Coach at Thomas Jefferson HS in Dallas. Many of the young men that played under Coach Hollywood continued to keep in touch with him and always expressed what a profound influence he had made on their lives. Ralph retired from Dallas ISD in 1983 with 30 years of experience. Ralphs wife, Patti, preceded him in death in 1988. He later married Linda Moore Williams and settled in Greenville. Since his retirement, Ralph and Linda have enjoyed traveling and socializing with their many friends. Ralph was always a willing volunteer and ready to give anyone a helping hand. He was President of Kiwanas, President of Texas Retired Teachers Association, and Elder at Grace Presbyterian Church. When age prevented him from volunteering, he continued his good will by supporting numerous charitable organizations, especially Cal Farleys Boys Town and the Native American School where his mother had taught. Ralph received several awards and recognition commemorating his dedication to coaching such as, the Hall of Honor from Austin College, Coach of the Year in 11 4A Football District, and coaching in two Texas All Star Games. Ralph had many interests but particularly enjoyed gardening, a love he passed down to his daughter. His yard was always filled with beautiful flowers. He loved to fish and hunt especially with his son and nephews. He took much pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren, and loved watching his great grandchildren play. His family will receive visitors on Wed., July 29, 2009, 6:00-8:00 pm at Peters Funeral Home, 3935 Joe Ramsey Blvd, Greenville Texas. The service will be on Thurs., July 30 at 9:30 am at Peters Funeral Home, with a 12:30 pm burial at Grove Hill Cemetery, 4118 Samuell Blvd. in Dallas. Memorials may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, Cal Farleys Boys Home, the American Cancer Society, or your favorite charity.
