Nancy Ann Clifton, age 81, of Greenville, passed in the late evening hours of Saturday, March 12, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 22, 1929 to James William and Louis Seely Harris, they preceded her in death. Nancy married the love of her life, Bobby Ray Clifton on July 8, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio; he survives after almost 65 years of marriage. Although Nancy worked as nurse, her biggest job was being a wife, mother, and eventually a grandmother and great grandmother. She will be remembered for everything from being the baseball coach and swim instructor to the Girl Scout and Camp Fire leader. She had a passion for children and would do anything she could to be a part of the lives of not just her children but also the children of the community. She also enjoyed volunteering for the Parks & Recreation Department in Dallas. Nancy is survived by her husband Bobby Ray Clifton of Greenville; children, Margaret McCullough, and husband Randy, of Macon, Georgia, Bobby Ray Clifton, II., and wife Sandra, of Greenville, Gary Clifton, and wife Barbara, of Wolfe City, Larry Clifton, and wife Teresa, of Dallas, Charlotte Tucker of Wolfe City, and Victoria Straughan, and husband John, of Ladonia; 21 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephew, and other relatives. She was also preceded in death by grandsons, Randy McCullough, Jr., Clint Ray Clifton, and Christopher Bailey; one brother, James William Harris; and one sister, Margaret Clifton. Services for Nancy Clifton will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Peters Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Terry Holley officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City. Visitation will be from 6 " 8 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
