Clifford Michael “Mike” Dooley age 98, of Miller Grove, Tx, passed away September 12, 2022, in the comfort of his home.
Mike was born on February 4, 1924, in East St. Louis, IL, to Albert & Olivia McBride-Dooley. He married the love of his life, Mary Dykes, on July 14, 1946 in Greenville, Tx.
Mike led his family well. His strong Catholic faith guided him throughout his life. He adored his family, especially his grandkids.
Mike loved spending time fishing and hunting. Much of his free time was spent playing all kinds of games, such as: cards, board games, skeet shooting and horseshoes. Baseball held a special place in his heart.
He served in the U. S. Army from March 1943 to January 1946. After his separation from the Army, he joined the West Texas – New Mexico League, Professional Baseball Club in 1946. He played for the Greenville Majors and Lubbock Hubbards as a catcher; he was repeatedly selected as the MVP batter. He retired from baseball and became a Masonary Contractor for 39 years.
Mike is survived by his daughters: Lynda McCrary (Miller Grove, Tx), Tina Turner (New Boston, Tx), and Virginia Talkington (Rowlett, Tx). Grandsons: Mark & wife Annett McCrary (Murfreesboro, TN), & Clint Turner (Blevins, AR). Granddaughters: Tracy May (Blevins, AR), Misty Johnson & husband Matt (St. Paul, Tx), Courtney Burnett & husband Mark (Simms, Tx), Heather Sagraves & husband Todd (Rockwall, Tx), Ashley Brannan & husband Braxton (Fate, Tx). Great-Grandchildren: Kendall Copenhagen, Kaylyn McCrary, Cameron McCrary, Chase McCrary, Landee May, Alex May, Christian May, Joey Johnson, Ethan Johnson, Slade Burnett, Saylor Burnett, Taylor Sagraves, Carson Sagraves, Beau Brannan, Preston Brannan, Ava Brannan, and Adalyn Brannan. He was blessed with 12 Great-Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years: Mary Dykes-Dooley; his parents: Albert & Olivia McBride-Dooley; sister: Shirley Amos Walters; brother: Leo Dooley; sons-in-law: Joe McCrary & Dennis Turner; great-grandsons: Christian May & Beau Brannan; and great-great-grandson: Dreh’lyn Gordon.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 1:15PM at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX, 75211.
