Melba Scott, age 73, of Dallas, passed away in the afternoon hours of Friday, October 22, 2010 at her home. She was born on May 16, 1937 in Hopkins County to Bascom Gilbert and Lottie (Sloan) Adams, they preceded her in death. On May 11, 1956 Melba married the love of her life, George Arliss Scott, in Hopkins County. Together they spent the next 55 years raising a family and sharing memories that will last in those she loved. Melba was a member of the bowling league at the Big Town Bowling Alley. In her free time she loved watching NASCAR and the Dallas Cowboys and in the evening you would always find her sitting on her couch watching Wheel of Fortune and Judge Judy. Those who knew Melba know that her greatest love and joy came from her grandchildren. Melba is survived by her husband George; children, Pamela Derstein of Dallas, Ricky Scott of Dallas, Randall Scott, and wife Tammara of Scurry, and Bryan Eric Scott of Lakeside, Iowa; grandchildren, Keesha Sutherland Galindo, Raynee Derstein, Gary Derstein, Stephen Scott, Christopher Scott, Michael Scott, Jonathan Oehler, Kaylee Oehler, and Emma Oehler; and great-grandson Jude Galindo. She was also preceded in death by one son Mark Scott. Services for Melba Scott will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Peters Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Ridgeway Cemetery near Sulphur Springs. Visitation will be from 6 " 8 P.M., Monday evening at the funeral home.
