Born on December 23, 1927, in Blue Ridge, Texas, Melba's unwavering dedication and hard work propelled her from a file clerk at MS+L to a position where she was instrumental in shaping loan practices and regulations during her 40+ years.
Throughout her life, Melba exhibited a keen ability to connect with people from all walks of. Her warm and approachable demeanor, coupled with an intuitive understanding of human nature, allowed her to build strong relationships based on trust and respect. She was known for being friendly to all but also possessed the discernment to see through facades when necessary.
In addition to her successful career, Melba found joy and fulfillment in various hobbies and interests. From tending to her garden and canning food to hosting holiday events and caring for stray animals, she embodied a spirit of generosity and hospitality that touched the lives of many.
Melba's proudest accomplishments were not limited to her professional success. She held dear the memories of marrying her beloved husband, George W Anderson Jr, and raising their son Jimmy Anderson, and running the farm by herself. Her family was at the center of her world, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to their well-being.
On May 23, 2024, Melba Jean Anderson departed this world, leaving behind a constellation of grieving hearts. She is survived by her loving son Jimmy Anderson; devoted daughters-in-law Leanne Anderson and Vivian Anderson; cherished grandchildren James Meeks, Leanne Meeks, Ryan Meeks, Gina Anderson; adored great-grandchildren Carrie Meeks, Allie Meeks, Emily Meeks; as well as her sons Riley Meeks and Anthony Meeks.
Among those who preceded Melba in death are her father Estle Lee Overman, mother Bertie Lee Pruett, sister Glydel Chambers, and husband George W Anderson Jr.
A Graveside Service will be held on May 31, 2024, at Memoryland in Greenville, Texas. The service will be a time for family and friends to honor and celebrate the remarkable life of Melba Jean Anderson—a kind soul whose impact will endure through the memories she created and the love she shared.
