Maudie Getts

Maudie Lee Getts, age 82, of Greenville, went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Colonial Lodge Retirement Center. She was born on December 13, 1927 in Dresten, Texas to Robert and Eva Ashford, they preceded her in death. Mrs. Getts was a part of the Greatest Generation and was a shining example for all to follow. As well as raising four boys and tending to their needs, she worked in the banking industry as a vault teller. In her free time she loved working in the yard and in her flower beds. She was a Christian woman who, before her trouble with Alzheimers, last attended the First Baptist Church of Cumby. Mrs. Getts would easily have been considered a very hard worker and faithful friend but the trait she would be most proud of was being called a wonderful mother and grandmother. She left a legacy for her family to follow and a void that will never truly be filled. Mrs. Getts is survived by her husband, Lonnie Nolen Getts; four sons, James Calvin ONeal, and wife Chiree, of Cavina, CA, Kenneth Ray ONeal, of Garland, TX, Ronnie Lee ONeal, and wife Peggy, of Rockwall, TX, and Bobbie Lynn ONeal, and wife June, New Orleans, LA; nine grandchildren; fifteen great0grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Services for Mrs. Getts will be held Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Henry officiating. Burial will follow at the Dresden Cemetery in Dresden, TX.
