Mary Burton

Mary Frances Burton, age 91, of Greenville passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Briarcliff Health Center of Greenville with her family by her side. She was born on September 19, 1919, in Wolfe City to John and Sally Vick Wells, they preceded her in death. Mary married J.W. (Jim) Burton on January 24, 1946 at the home of Joe and Aline Burton in Dallas with Joe performing their ceremony. Jim and Mary spent 47 years making memories, working the farm, and raising a family together until his passing in 1993. Mary was a member of the Old Concord Baptist Church and she loved her church family dearly. When not working at her husbands side in the fields, Mary also enjoyed her time at Mary of Puddin Hill; where she worked for many years. Mary is survived by daughter, Linda Coffman, and husband Edd, of Greenville; grandchildren, Terry Jones of Greenville, Amy Boggs, and husband Randy, of Leonard, Jeremy Coffman, and wife Lisa, of Greenville; great-grandchildren, Cole Jones, and wife Vanna, Perry Jones, Macy Boggs, Kelsee Coffman, and Brice Coffman; and by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends whom she loved dearly. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Minnie and Margaret, and by three brothers, Willie, Grady, and Guy. Services for Mary Burton will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at the Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Hazelip and Steve Hazelip officiating. Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Caddo Mills with Howard Burton, Craig Harris, Steve Hazelip, Joiy Krodle, Laverl Smith, and Steve Sowell serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmie Luna, Malcolm Miller, Richard Sowell, Billie Strawn, and Tommy Strawn. Visitation will be from 6 " 8 P.M., Monday evening at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Briarcliff Health Care Center, mother loved all the staff, friends, bingo, and actives and her friends forever Inez and Candice.
