Mary Wood Burkett, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, and friend, passed away on September 27, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on February 26, 1948 in Denton, TX., she lived a life filled with kindness, compassion, and joy.
Mary dedicated many years of her life to her career as a Materials Analyst for Bought Corp. in Grand Prairie, TX. Her work was characterized by precision and diligence. She approached every task with a remarkable sense of responsibility and professionalism. Mary's commitment to her work was truly admirable and played an integral role in the success of the company.
While Mary was admirably devoted to her career, it is through her personal connections that she truly radiated warmth and love. Mary adored spending time with her family; especially her beloved husband Sonny Burkett. Together they were inseparable companions; going anywhere and doing anything with the utmost joy and enthusiasm.
In the presence of Mary's loving nature, anyone who crossed her path felt instantly comfortable and welcomed. Her genuine kindness knew no bounds. Whether it was offering words of encouragement or extending a helping hand, Mary had an exceptional ability to make people feel valued and loved.
Mary took great delight in being surrounded by her family. The moments spent together were cherished beyond measure. Her daughter Laura Burkett Mobley and husband Gary held a special place in Mary's heart. Their bond was unbreakable as they shared countless memories filled with laughter, love, and support.
Mary's grandchildren held an incredibly significant role in her life. Steven Mobley and wife Katlin were dear to her heart; their presence brought immense joy into her life. Erika Mobley Littrell and husband Mason were also deeply cherished by Mary; their close-knit relationship exemplified the beauty of family bonds. Tori Mobley brought an abundance of happiness into her grandmother's life and will always hold a special place in her heart.
Mary was blessed with the arrival of great-grandchildren who brought an added dimension of joy to her life. Wyatt Littrell, Kennedy Littrell, and Waylan Mobley were the light of Mary's eyes. Their playful laughter and innocent smiles filled her heart with immeasurable love and countless precious memories.
In addition to the love shared within Mary's immediate family, she had a close bond with her sister-in-law, Lorene Hayley, and husband Dan Hayley. They provided unwavering support and comfort throughout the years. The strong familial connection that existed between Mary and Randall Paden and wife Candi enriched her life with love and support.
Mary leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will carry on her spirit through their cherished memories of their dear aunt. Her impact on their lives will never be forgotten as she played a significant role in shaping the individuals they have become.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Roberta Wood; brother, Kenneth Wood; brother-in-law, Sammy Burkett; sister-in-law, Joyce Burkett Berry, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, J.D. and Canzada Finley Paden.
Mary Wood Burkett touched the lives of all those who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a shining example of compassion, generosity, and unconditional love. Her legacy is one that will live on forever in the hearts of those she left behind.
