I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith 2 Timothy 4:7 Aileen was welcomed into the safe arms of Jesus on October 4, 2010. She was born on June 21, 1919 to John Wheeler and Mary Delitha (Mann) Shrum. Aileen grew up in Honey Grove with her five brothers. She married the love of her life, Loyd Rowton, on May 18, 1946. Aileen and Loyd moved to Greenville in the 1950s and were longtime members of First Baptist Church where she dearly loved taking care of the children in the nursery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Rowton in 1992, parents John Wheeler and Mary Shrum, brothers, Johnnie, William Cullum, Joe Mann, Fred Woodrow, Ancle Lafayette, and sister Mary Gladys who died at six months old. Aileen is survived by her nieces Emma (Shrum) Butler Duke, Sheryl (Shrum) Tanner, Anita Shrum, nephew Wayne Shrum, and special friends Denny and Bea Dunkel. Aileens laughter, warmth, sense of humor, love of her family, her friends and her Lord made her a joy to all who knew and loved her. She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed. Aileen was buried next to her husband in Oakwood Cemetery, Honey Grove, Texas on Tuesday, October 5, 2010. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to First Baptist Church of Greenville or a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, October 11, 2010 at Peters Funeral Home with Pastor Royce Litchfield officiating. What we have once enjoyed we can never lose.
