Martha L.Connell, 68 of Greenville, TX. passed away peacefully at her home on April 10, 2010. A celebration of her life will begin at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Peters Funeral Home with Minister Randy Daw officiating. A graveside service will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. Martha was born to Howard and Lucille Means on August 7, 1941 in Atlanta, GA. On February, 16 1960, she married Don Connell in Basel, Switzerland. She was an outstanding military wife and domestic engineer for over 50 years. After Don retired from the Air Force, they moved to Greenville and resided here for over 35 years. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends, gardening, bird watching, spending time with her kids and grandkids and volunteering as a Pink Lady at Hunt Memorial Hospital. She is survived by two sons, Keith Connell and wife Jolinda of Gotha, FL; Bill Connell and wife Amy of Mesquite, TX; and one daughter, Karen Connell of Greenville; one grandson, Joe Akers, Jr. of Greenville; five granddaughters, Alyssa and Miranda Connell of Gotha, FL; Kylee, Kelsee, and Kaylynn Connell of Mesquite, TX; and one brother, Charles Means and wife Heidi of Bedford, TX. Martha was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Pallbearers are Joseph Akers, Sr., Larry Cobb, Glyn Jones, Barry Gluck, Charles Mize, and Robert Woods. Donations in Martha's name can be made to the Disabled Veterans Fund or the National Cancer Research Fund. Visitation is from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
