Marjorie Katchinska

Marjorie D. Katchinska, age 88, of Greenville, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Harrison House Assisted Living in Greenville. She was born in Covington, Texas on August 27, 1921 to Leonard H. and Lillie Bell McElroy Dowdy, they precede her in death. In June 1943 Marjorie married Harold Frank Katchinska and spent the next 40 years together until his passing in August 1983. She retired from E-Systems after 24 years of dedicated service. Marjorie was a strong willed woman who was proud of her Texas roots and in her later life spent much of her time sitting on the front porch watching the world go by. Her loving spirit and stern advice will be missed by all who knew her. Marjorie is survived by her son, Richard Katchinska and wife, Vicki Barnes, of Sulphur Springs; eight grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one son, H. L. Butch Katchinska; one daughter, Cheryl Ann Wood; one brother, Ira Dowdy; and by two sister, Lois Sandlin and Charlotte Reed. Services for Ms. Katchinska will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Peters Funeral Home with Chaplain Tom Lane officiating. Burial will follow at Memoryland Cemetery with her grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 " 8 P.M. Wednesday evening at Peters Funeral Home in Greenville.
