Louis Savonne Giddens, 90, of Greenville, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Greencrest Manor Nursing Home. She was born on July 26, 1919 in Goldthwaite, Texas to Thomas Samuel and Mary Lindsey Cox. Ms. Giddens spent her life raising her children and as a homemaker where she learned to become a skilled seamstress and a great cook. She enjoyed spending her free time quilting, dancing, and singing but was most proud of her time with her family. She was of the Baptist faith. Ms. Giddens is survived by her children, Sam & Cathy Giddens of Marble Falls, Don & Minnie Giddens of Greenville, G. Janie Green of Midland, Doc Giddens of Greenville, Mike & Linda Giddens of Lumberton, and Dorothy Hinds of Hitchcock, 28 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, one sister, Carline Craver of Breckenridge, 2 sisters-in-law, Jane Giddens of Lubbock and Dorothy Cox of Haskell, and 1 brother-in-law, Alton and Ella Burnett of Sundown, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Elmer (Blue) Giddens and B.C. Anderson, 2 brothers, Lindsey Cox and Glen Cox, 2 sisters, Sammye Higgins and Imogene Burrus, and 3 grandsons, Nathan Giddens, M.D. Giddens, and Robert Green. Funeral Services for Ms. Giddens will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. in the Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Samuel Glenn and Dan Gandy officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Park in Quinlan with grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Friday night from 6-8 at Peters Funeral Home.
