John Boen

John M. Boen, age 82, of Lone Oak, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Doctors Hospital in Dallas. He was born in Sparkman, Arkansas on May 19, 1928 to Ebbin Cleveland and Mahalie Elizabeth (Seale) Boen, they preceded him in death. Mr. Boen married Ora Lee Wilson in 1950 and together spent the next 54 years raising a family and creating a lifetime of memories until her passing in 2004. As a young father he loved spending time with his boys as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader where he taught camping and survival skills and he taught life skills on the diamond as a baseball coach. John retired from Vought Aircraft as an aircraft machinist and teacher. Following retirement, he spent his time as a full time farmer and horticulturist. In his free time John loved to camp and fish but his most cherished memories came while spending time with his family. He was a devout Baptist. John is survived by three sons, Paul Boen, and wife Brenda, of Lone Oak, Sammy Boen, and Charles Boen of Lone Oak; two granddaughters, Stacey Tandy and husband John, of Farmersville, and Kim Sitzes and husband Will, of Terrell; five great-grandchildren, Michael Tandy, Rebekah Tandy, David Tandy, Seth Sitzes, and Sean Sitzes; and two sisters, Ruth Allen of Mt. Vernon and Joan Pullen of Mansfield. Funeral Services for Mr. Boen will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Peters Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lynch Cemetery near Tawakoni. Visitation will be from 6 " 8 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
