Joe Wright

Joe Dan Wright, 72, of Greenville, passed away Saturday morning, June 21, 2008 in Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Mr. Wright was born January 12, 1936 in Greenville to Montie Lee and Gracie Pearl Turner Wright. Services will be held Friday, June 27, 2008 at 10:00AM at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Larry Combs, Eddie Smith, and Kevin Herbert officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at Peters Funeral Home. Joe married Peggy Wood in Caddo Mills on June 2, 1956. She preceded him in death in April of 2008. Joe first retired from the Texas State Highway Department. He was very active in his church, Ridgecrest Baptist, where he served as the custodian before his final retirement. He also served as a deacon, taught Sunday school, and helped cook meals for youth camps throughout the years. Survivors include his daughter, Pam Wright of Greenville, Sisters Cloe Talley of Mt. Vernon, Murl Baker of Mt. Pleasant, Etta & Bill Harvey of Greenville, sisters-in-law Patsy Morgan of Arkansas, Jonell & James Oliver and Marcella Wright of Greenville, brothers-in-law Bobby& Donna Wood of Greenville, Jerry& Kathy Wood of Caddo Mills, and Larry & Joi Wood of Chandler, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers, Montie Eugene Wright and William Harry Wright. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Youth Fund of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 6801 Wesley Street, Greenville, Texas 75402 or to the Senior Center Resources & Public Transportation (Meals on Wheels).
