J.F. Griffin Jr.

Funeral Services for J.F. Griffin of Lone Oak will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 30 at First Baptist Church of Heath. Burial will follow at Heath Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. at Peters Funeral Home. Mr. Griffin passed away Monday, July 28, 2008 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital in Sulphur Springs. He was born on October 23, 1927 in Heath to John Ferrell Sr. and Hattie Sue Jernigan Girffin. He married Barbara Nell Bruton in Dallas on July 10, 1965; she survives. Mr. Griffin was a retired truck driver for Safeway. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was of the Baptist faith. Other survivors include four daughters, Barbara Braswell, Nita Dodson, Rita Mozley, all of Garland, and Susan Westbrook of Lone Oak; son Jimmy Griffin of Lone Oak; two brothers, Carl Griffin of Cleburne and Monty Griffin of Wills Point; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jackie Luttrell.
