Jeffrey (Guffy) James Evans, Sr., age 49, of Greenville, passed away in the late afternoon hours of Saturday, May 7, 2011 at his home. He was born on April 13, 1962 to Houston Oral and Margaret Joy (Howell) Evans, they survive. Guffy worked in construction and was a member of both the VFW and the American Legion in Greenville. He married Sharon Kay Sprabary in Greenville in 2003, she also survives. Guffy loved life and lived for the day. He never met a stranger and never lost a friend. Some of his happiest times were spent as the life of the party or just being with his family talking in his best Donald Duck voice. Jeffrey was a son, husband, father, brother, and friend taken too soon but leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. Jeffrey is also survived by children, Pamela Kristyn Evans, and longtime boyfriend Chris Anderton, Susan Mollenhour, and Patrick Mollenhour, all of Greenville, Jeffrey Evans, Jr., and wife Jill, of Quinlan, Stormie Evans of Greenville, and Shiann Evans of Celeste; sisters, Marjean Allen and Vicki Lovvorn, both of Greenville; brother, Gary Evans of Greenville; mother-in-law, Sammie Sherrod of Greenville; and by numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Jeffrey was preceded in death by father-in-law, Kenneth Sherrod. Services for Jeffrey Evans will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Peters Funeral Home with Pastor Lucas McManus officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City with Jeramy Slemmons, Hunter Allen, Joshua Christian, Chris Anderton, Donnie Westbrook, and Buck Sparbary serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 " 8 P.M., Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
