Isaac Charles Landon Taylor passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025. He was born around 5:00 PM on June 22, 1936, just outside Greenville, Texas, on Route 1 in Precinct 1 of Hunt County, to Isaac Orrie and Hester Pauline Taylor.
He graduated from Garland High School in 1955 and went on to serve his country with honor. He enlisted in the United States Navy on July 22, 1957, as an Aerographer’s Mate, tasked with meteorological and oceanographic data collection, analysis, and forecasting. He served in Hawaii, on Midway Island, and aboard the USS Newell—a destroyer escort built for the U.S. Navy during World War II. He completed his active service on July 21, 1960, and remained in the Naval Reserve until his honorable discharge on July 21, 1963, achieving the rank of Aerographer’s Mate Petty Officer 3rd Class (AG3).
On March 7, 1964, he married Pearly Mae Peterson at the home of his parents in Garland, Texas. Together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. Isaac adopted two children, Sharlet and Jeff, from Pearly’s previous marriage, and later the couple adopted their son, Isaac, from Buckner Baptist Benevolence.
In 1978, the family moved from Garland to Campbell, Texas, where he continued to provide a steady and loving home. Isaac began working for the U.S. Postal Service shortly after leaving the Navy and retired after many dedicated years as a letter carrier.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pearly Mae, and his daughter, Sharlet. He is survived by his sons, Jeffery Taylor—a Navy veteran—and Isaac Taylor, a Marine Corps veteran. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Matthew Peterson, Bryant Peterson, Ariel Thiessen and her husband Darren, Echo Kirk and her husband Trey, Aja Taylor, and Isaac Taylor, as well as one great-granddaughter, Addison Thiessen. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy, and her husband, Al Dyer, along with several nieces and nephews.
Isaac was a quiet man, well-liked and respected by all who knew him. He was a loyal friend, a devoted Christian, and a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He never stopped missing his wife after her passing. Isaac had a deep love for the outdoors—especially fishing in the Gulf of Mexico—and enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, and mowing the grass in his later years.
He lived with quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and a deep faith. His memory will live on in the lives he touched and the legacy he leaves behind.
