Henry Jackson Lawrence, affectionately known as Jack, passed away on August 5, 2023, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on April 21, 1940, in Whigham, Georgia. It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to a devoted father, cherished grandfather, beloved brother, and dear friend.
Jack had a fulfilling career as a truck driver, where he showcased his dedication and exceptional work ethic. He took pride in his profession and approached each day with a sense of purpose. Jack's commitment to his job was evident in the way he carried himself and the respect he earned from his colleagues.
Prior to his truck driving career, Jack received some college education from the United States Army. He served for three years as Private First Class during the Korean War. His time in the military instilled in him values of loyalty, discipline, and resilience that would shape his character for the rest of his life.
Outside of work and military service, Jack possessed a creative spirit. He found solace and joy in artistic endeavors such as painting, drawing, and sketching. Through these hobbies, he expressed his innermost emotions while sharing glimpses of his unique perspective with those around him.
Jack's love for his family was unparalleled. He was a caring father to his children Jackie Ann Lawrence and Henry Jackson Lawrence Jr. Although he is no longer with us physically, the memories they shared together will be forever treasured.
He also leaves behind a legacy through surviving family members including Donna & Scott Soward (daughter), Carla Lawrence (daughter-in-law), Heath Soward (grandson), Shannon & John Ellington (granddaughter), Henry Jackson Lawrence (grandson), Shane Lawrence (grandson), Joey Lawrence (grandson), Dawn Pugh (granddaughter), Karen Pugh (granddaughter), Kaitlynn & Payton Buck (great-granddaughter), Tristan Soward (great-grandson), Tabitha Soward (great-granddaughter), Gracie Ellington (great-granddaughter), Jackson Lawrence (great-grandson), Melody Lawrence (great-granddaughter), Kassandra Amiott (great-granddaughter), Brandon Fort (great-grandson), Christopher Fort (great-grandson), Dillon Fort (great-grandson), Ethan Fort (great-grandson).
In Jack's journey through life, he was predeceased by his parents Annie Mae Joiner and Leslie Daniel Lawrence. He is also preceeded in death by his siblings: Leslie Mae, Annie Bell, J.D. Lawrence, and Joe Lawrence. Their bond of love and support formed an unbreakable foundation for the Lawrence family.
Jack will be fondly remembered for his warm smile, gentle nature, and unwavering loyalty. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, compassion, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we gather to celebrate Jack's life and mourn his loss, let us take comfort in the profound impact he made during his time with us. May we carry forth his spirit of love, resilience, and creativity in our own lives as a testament to the beautiful soul that he was.
