Harold "Ron" Ronald Carroll, born on October 29, 1946, in Sulphur Springs, Texas passed away on September 5, 2024, in Farmersville, Texas. He lived a life devoted to hard work and service, most notably as a Drill Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. This commitment discipline and leadership transitioned into a successful career as a long-haul driver, a profession he embraced for over 45 years.
Ron was an intelligent and engaging individual, known for his jovial personality. He never met a stranger; conversations flowed easily from him as he made people feel welcomed and appreciated. He often brought laughter into the lives of others, displaying a playful spirit that endeared him to many. His stubbornness and fierce independence were defining traits, making him a character in the truest sense of the word.
He was also a proud graduate of Northside High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Ron attended college for a year at the University of Texas in El Paso. Aside his academic pursuits, it was his life's experiences and personal interactions that truly shaped him.
Ron had a variety of hobbies that filled his days with joy. He shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Chocolate, who had been his companion for over 15 years. Games and puzzles were not just pastimes; they were passions he excelled in, whether it was arcade games, crosswords, or dominoes. Furthermore, he was an avid stamp collector, a hobby that showcased his meticulous nature and appreciation for detail.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife, Rebecca "Becky" Carroll, and his daughters: Robin Johnson, Staci Lucius, and Michelle Russell. Becky's Kids; Dawn Walker, Shelley McClain, James Callahan. He is also remembered fondly by his sisters, Alicia Gail Dietsch and Denise Bedwell. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Ben Johnson, Brooklyn Johnson, Owen Russell, Parker Russell, as well as 27 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren
Ron faced life with an open heart, often giving selflessly and sharing kindness with those around him. He was predeceased by his mother, Nelda Carroll; father, Harold Gordon Carroll; brothers, Edwin Garrett, Tom Carroll, Mark Carroll, Stanley "Stan" Carroll, and Bradley "Brad" Carroll; and sister, Melinda Carroll.
A memorial service in honor of Ron Carroll will be held on September 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Saint Williams Catholic Church in Greenville, Texas. He will be remembered as a devoted family man, a dedicated worker, and a friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
