Guadalupe "Lupe" Gomez, 89, of Greenville died in the late evening hours of June 7, 2009, at Greencrest Nursing Home in Greenville, surrounded by her family. She was born in Columbus, N.M., to Manuel and Juanita Apodaca on May 30, 1920. Lupe married Augustine Gomez Sr. and spent her life being a mother and homemaker. She was active in the Apostolic Assembly of Faith in Christ Church and held various offices within the church in both California and in Texas. Lupe was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by eight children, Lupe Silva and husband Ignacio of Lemon Grove, Calif., Augustine Gomez Jr., and wife Sherron, Ronald Gomez, Larry Gomez and wife Maria, and Olivia Garrett, all of Greenville, Yolanda Freeman and husband Melvin of Rowlett, Elvia Coffey and husband Clay of Lyndhurst, Va., and Imelda Gomez of Greenville; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and two brothers.Services for Lupe Gomez are at 10 a.m. today, at the Living Word Church, in Greenville with Pastor Lucas McManus officiating under the direction of Peters Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hall Cemetery with her grandchildren serving as pallbearers
