Geneva Faye Woodson passed away suddenly in Plano, Texas. She was 80 years old. Geneva was born June 13, 1931 in Hunt County, Texas to Ira O. and Mary Ottwell McClendon. Geneva met and married the love of her life, Billy Guy Woodson on March 24, 1951 in DeQueen, Arkansas. Billy Guy and Geneva had two children; a son Michael Woodson and a daughter, Patricia Woodson Barker. Geneva worked for Lance Industries for several years before retiring and pursuing her passion for helping others. Geneva was always ready to help anyone in need and she found her perfect calling as a caregiver with Community Access in Greenville, Texas. Geneva's compassionate heart, infectious smile and caring spirit made her a treasured companion to her special friends and "extended family" at Community Access. Geneva was a member of the Sunday School class at Highland Terrace Baptist Church. Geneva is preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Mary McClendon; her life's companion of 47 years, Billy Guy Woodson; her son, Michael Woodson; a granddaughter, Christy Woodson and a grandson, Jason Woodson. Those left to celebrate her life include her daughter, Patricia Barker; granddaughter, Holley Young and her husband, Josh; grandsons Larry Woodson and his fiancee Alisha, Terry Woodson and his fiancee, Jennifer; and her great-granddaughters Alexis, Megan ad McKenzie. Geneva is also survived by her brother, Ira McClendon and his wife Joann and sister, Janie Wilson; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as her precious friends and extended family at Community Access. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Monday, February 20, 2012 at Peters Funeral Home, Greenville, Texas from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A funeral service will then be held the following day, Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville.
