Gene Wilkinson

David Eugene (Gene) Wilkinson passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. The Wilkinson family will be having a Celebration of Life for immediate family members.

Gene was born October 21, 1941 in Fackler, Alabama to W.C and Mary Etta (Hughes) Wilkinson. He married Sue Farr on July 16, 1961. Gene and Sue had 3 children, Cindy, Mike and Renee. Gene worked in the coal mine, as a mechanic, and as a police officer. Those who were close to Gene, knew about his love for firearms, knives and motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife Sue, daughters, Cindy Hopson and husband Jim, Renee Wilkinson; son Mike Wilkinson, grandchildren Kristy Pugh, Misty Hunnell and husband Wes, Michael Wilkinson, Merissa Gonzales and husband Zach, Gavin Dethrow and fiancée Taylor Vavra; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Cecil Wilkinson, Joe Wilkinson, Lowe Wilkinson; sisters Evelyn Coffey, Essie Stockton, Francis McCallie; and daughter in law BJ Kizer Wilkinson.
