Eleanor Burns Poteet, age 84, of Greenville, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, April 5, 2010 at Park Haven Nursing Home in Greenville. She was born on April 10, 1925 in Fordland, Missouri to Noah and Mima Evans Cornelison, they preceded her in death. Ms. Poteet retired after 32 years of dedicated service in electronics at E-Systems. In retirement she became an avid gardener. She loved her flowers and hummingbirds. Growing up in the Ozarks gave her a love for music and an ability to yodel which she quietly enjoyed. She was proud that she was a mother and will be most remembered for her generosity and her love for people. Ms. Poteet was a member of the Kingston Baptist Church. She is survived by her three daughters, Charlene Perkins, of Springfield, MO, Marcilean Lindenzweig, and husband Tim, of Greenville, and Jean Watts, and husband Richard, of Emory; one son, George G. Burns, Jr., and wife Janet, of Greenville; one brother, Joe Cornelison; 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, George Gilbert Burns and Avon Poteet, and four brothers, Elmo Cornelison, Ross Cornelison, Jack Cornelison, and Dale Cornelison. Services for Ms. Eleanor Poteet will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Peters Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Hickey officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery in Emory with Donald Patrick, Scott McCasland, Mike Coyle, Nathan Horton, Tommy Cooper, and Mark Coles serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 " 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
