Edward White

November 28, 1916 — January 10, 2012

Longtime Greenville businessman Edward Bellmer White, 95, passed away at his home Tuesday January 10, 2012. He was born in Caddo Mills, Texas November 28, 1916 the son of Robert and Amanda White of Caddo Mills. He was a graduate of Clinton High School and Wesley College. Mr. White was a World War II veteran entering the Navy in 1942 and stationed in the Pacific Theater of Operations. After the Navy, he bought Wascasey Dry Goods on the east side of the square in Greenville, renovated the building and opened Whites Department Store which he operated for 25 years. He also was a rancher and later operated E. Bellmer Whites Used Cars for 20 years. He married his wife of 73 years, Wilma Maurene Sprinkle on August 28, 1938 in Greenville. He was a member of Southside Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife of Greenville; two sons, Randall White and wife Shirley of Greenville and Travis White of Greenville; one brother, Jack White of Greenville; three grandsons, Eric Wall of Dallas, Aaron Wall of Rockwall and Randy White of Greenville and one great granddaughter, Faith Wall of Dallas. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Amanda White; two sisters, Lucille Farr and Birdie May Isham; three brothers, Elmer (Buster) White, Leslie Lee White and Robert Earl White. Pallbearers are nephews Monty White, Ronnie White, Jackie White and Matt White; grandsons, Eric Wall, Aaron Wall and Randy White. Services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2012 in the Chapel at Peters Funeral Home at 2 PM officiated by Jerry Price and Gordon Grammer. Visitation will be before the service from 1 to 2 PM.
