Dorothy McDowell

Dorothy May McDowell was born May 10, 1934 to Jim and Elbie Allgood. She married C.E. McDowell in Fannin County in 1957. He preceded her in death in 2000.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Rose Moore, and husband Jerry; sons, David McDowell, and wife Peggy, Jerry Ray McDowell, and wife Becky, Dewayne McDowell; brothers Kenneth Allgood, Wade Allgood, and Larry Allgood; grandchildren, Jerry Moore Jr, and wife Vicky, Alicia Edwards, Amy Smith, and husband Mathew, Sherry McDaniel, and husband Joseph, James McDowell, and wife Errin, Richard Durbin, Jennifer Foster, and husband Billy, Mandy Dorchester, and husband Paul; 21 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leonard Allgood and Jimmy Allgood; granddaughter, Amanda McDowell; grandson, Billy Edwards; and daughter-in-law, Angie McDowell.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2020 in the Peters Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor John Yow officiating. Interment will follow at Merit Cemetery with James McDowell, Tommy Allgood, Paul Dorchester, Billy Foster, Joseph McDaniel, and Jerry Moore serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
