David Gerald Riley, age 33, of Celeste, lost his battle with cancer on Monday, August 25, 2008. Mr. Riley passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 24, 1975 in Garland, Texas to Benny Gerald Riley and Mary Jane Harris Riley. After graduating from high school, Mr. Riley had two sons, Cody and Cory, and worked as a truck driver to provide for his family. His life was his children. He loved to take them hunting, fishing, camping, and most importantly to church. He was an active member of the Cross Pointe Baptist Church. David is survived by his sons, Cody Lane and Cory Shane Riley; parents, Benny Gerald and Mary Jane Riley; one brother, Brian Riley and wife, Melissa; one nephew, Clayton Riley; one niece, Kalyn Riley, all of Celeste and grandparents, Benny Hugh and Lois Jean Riley from Wolfe City. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Mr. Riley was preceded in death by grandparents, Tommy and Melba Harris, cousins, Manda Riley and Michael Powell, and one uncle, Gary Harris. Services for David Riley will be held at 11 A.M., Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Peters Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastors Ed Long and Billy Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family has asked the donations be made to the David Riley Scholarship Fund which will assist in his childrens education. The account has been set up at First Bank of Celeste.
