Clifford Payne, Sr.

Clifford Cliff Garland Payne, Sr., age 82, of West Tawakoni, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 9, 2010 at his home. Cliff was born on August 25, 1927 in Wolfe City to Hershel Corbin and Iva Lou Swindle Payne, they preceded him in death. He retired from E-Systems where he last worked as a supervisor. In his free time Cliff would most likely be found with his friends at the AmVets Club in West Tawakoni or occasionally at his favorite fishing hole. Anyone who knew Cliff would say he will most remembered as a hard working family man who enjoyed spending his time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by two sons, Clifford Payne, Jr., and wife Dee Anne, of Rockwall and Richard Lynn Payne, Sr. of West Tawakoni; grandchildren, Jacob Payne, Bailey Payne, Richard Lynn Payne, Jr., and Christy Payne; great-grandchildren, Justin Carter, Kaitlyn DeCarlo, and Ashlyn DeCarlo; special friend and caregiver Rachel Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends. Cliff was also preceded in death by his wife, Trudy; two sisters, Billie Warren and Susie Mitchell; and one brother H. E. Payne. A graveside service for Mr. Payne will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville. Members of the AmVets Club of West Tawakoni will serve as honorary pallbearers. A visitation will be held from 6 " 8 P.M. Tuesday evening at Peters Funeral Home. Family and friends attending the service are asked to come dressed casual. Cliff never liked a tie and wouldnt have it any other way.
