Carmen Jacobs

Funeral services for Carmen Stone Jacobs, age 81, of Belen, New Mexico, formerly of Campbell, will be held at Peters funeral Home, at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 30, 2010, with her brother-in-law, Manuel Salinas officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Valley Cemetery with Humberto DeLeon officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Castro, Roger Castro, Gerald Castro, John Murray, Jason Castro and Benjamin Zimmer. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Peters Funeral Home. Carmen Stone Jacobs passed away April 25, 2010 in Belen, New Mexico, her sons home.. She was born March 22, 1929 in Ricardo , New Mexico , the daughter of John and Adalaido Stone. She married Clarence M. Jacobs. He preceded her in death. She loved to cook, fish and be surrounded by her family, both her relatives and her church family. Carmen, known as Sister Carmen to her congregation, was co-founder, with her sister, Gloria Zimmer of Temple , of Praise Family Center in Campbell , Texas . Their goal was not only to provide a spiritual outlet to Spanish-speaking members of the congregation, but also to foster a sense of community service. Together, she and her sister led their church to help the needy both in our surrounding area, as well as missions to Mexico via the Mexico Mission Ministry, founded by her sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Manuel Salinas, with donations of food clothing and their own time. Carmen was a resident of Campbell, Texas for over 20 years, where she raised one of her grandchildren. She was loved and will be missed by all. Survivors include: three sons, Richard S. Castro and wife, Jill, Roger D. Castro, Gerald G. Castro; daughter, Cindy Baker and husband, Jimmy; brother, Alex Stone; four sisters, Juanita Lawson, Donna Salinas, Gloria Zimmer and Lupe Rodriguez and grandchildren, Michelle Castro and husband, John Murray, Heather Castro and husband, James (children, Collin and Austin), Angela Smith and husband, Seth (child, Kaleb), Jason Castro, Melissa Halleck (children, Joseph and Jorge), Jessica Sandoval and husband, Juan (children, Jade, Alex and Gabriel), Christina Halleck (child, Zachary) Paul Halleck IV, and Austen Castro.
