Burnett Calvin King was born August 25, 1923 in Ft. Worth, to John F. and Beatrice Williamson King. He married Laurell Lanier on November 6, 1954 in Ft. Worth. He is survived by his wife; his son, Kyle; his daughter, Cynthia and husband Jay Sehr all from Greenville; and grandchildren, Nicholas Sehr of Dallas and Amanda Sehr of Denton; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William Whitley King. During WWII, Burnett served in the Army Air Corp and completed fifty missions as a nose gunner on a B-24 flying out of Italy. He received a BBA from Baylor University in 1949 where he was a member of Delta Sigma Pi and Psi Chi fraternities. In 1975 he received an MBA from Webster University in St. Louis. He was a member of Ft. Worth Masonic Lodge #148 and the Grand Lodge of Texas for over fifty years. Burnett worked for the Texas Employment Commission for ten years in Galveston, Denton, and Ft. Worth. He later worked for the U.S. Army Aviation Systems Command as a budget analyst in Ft. Worth and St. Louis, as well as two assignments in Germany. He retired in 1985 and later sold real estate in St. Louis before moving to Greenville in 1995. During his retirement, Burnett enjoyed traveling abroad with his wife and toured historical sites throughout the world. A self-described poor mans Jackie Gleason, he relished in regaling his family and friends with anecdotes of his life and his travels. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21 at St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Greenville with burial in the National Cemetery in Dallas to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Texas Lions Camp P.O. Box 290247 Kerrville, TX 78209.
