Bill McGinness

Bill McGinness, age 81, of Greenville, went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours on Monday, November 22, 2010 at Hinton Home in Farmersville. He was born on March 6, 1929 in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas to Lester and Lillie Norris McGinness, they preceded him in death. After high school, Bill served in the United States Army and saw combat in the Korean Conflict. On September 14, 1953 he married Jean Ratliff of, Strawberry, Arkansas, in Clarksville, Tennessee. After 57 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories she survives. Bill worked for E-systems and attended North Baptist Church in Greenville. Those who knew him will remember his eagerness to help others, his ability to do anything he put his mind to, and his unstoppable work ethic. His personality and love of people will be missed by all who knew him. Bill is survived by his wife Jean; sister-in-law, Mary McGinness of Mountain Home, Arkansas; sisters and brothers by marriage, Ruth Lee of Terrell, and Freedia Coke, and husband L.B., of Greenville, John Ratliff, and wife Sue, of Conway Arkansas and Wes Ratliff, and wife Clara, of Abilene; extended family, Donna Peters, Karen Werner, Trish Schimers, and Bud Harper, all of Kansas; many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and by numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one sister Jackie Holiday and by one brother Bogard McGinness. Services for Bill will be held at 2:30 P.M., Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Peters Funeral Home with Pastor Kelly Reagen officiating. Interment will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park with Todd Ratliff, John Griffin, Nathan Williams, Mike McGinnis, Jared New, and Zane Vinson serving as pallbearers. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bills honor to the Alzheimers Association at www.alz.org.
