Bill Boswell, age 89, of Kress, passed away in the mid-morning hours of Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo. He was born on December 5, 1921 in McKinney to John and Pearl (Laird) Boswell, they preceded him in death. Bill served his country in the United Sates Army during World War II. He saw combat in the Asian-Pacific Theater where he was awarded four bronze stars and in the Philippine Liberation Campaign where he received one bronze star, a good conduct medal, Victory ribbon, one service stripe, and three overseas bars. Bill married Luvenia Tallant in October 1942 in Memphis, TN and together they raised a family and spent a lifetime making memories until her passing in November 2001 after nearly 60 years of marriage. Bill used his love of the land and skill as a farmer to raise his family. He was a lifelong farmer, farming in Lakeview and Memphis before moving to Kress in 1951. Bill is survived by two daughters, Vicki Brehm, of San Antonio, and Becky Johnston, and husband Jimmy, of Platter, OK; one son Roger Boswell, and wife Susan, of Decatur; and by two granddaughters, Candi Johnston and Marissa Brehm. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Princeton Cemetery in Princeton with Monty Stanley officiating.
