Allene Sprinkle Burton, age 94, beloved wife and mother, departed this life on May 4, 2008 to rest in the arms of Jesus. She was born in Greenville on July 23, 1913, graduated from High School in Slaton, and attended Wayland College in Plainview as well as Wesley College in Greenville. She married Joseph Burton on August 3, 1937 and devoted her entire life to her family and church as a preachers wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will always be loved and missed. Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Joseph Burton, retired minister; two daughters, Jolene Price and husband Jerry, Jeanette Adamson and husband Larry; five grandchildren, Matthew Adamson and wife Heather, Holly Adamson, Terry Price and wife Cathy, Melanie Berryman and husband Don, and Jennifer Johnson and husband John; six great-grandchildren, one sister, Maurene White and husband Bellmer White; two sisters-in-law Joyce Sprinkle and Mary Burton.; many nieces and nephews, and a host of other friends She was preceded in death by her parents, A.M. and Jennie Wright Sprinkle, and her brother, Dr. E.V. Sprinkle. Services will be held on Thursday, May 8 at 1:30 P.M. at Johnson Street Church of Christ, 3401 Johnson Street in Greenville with Randy Daw and Doug Bichenback officiating. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday night from 5-7 at Peters Funeral Home. Peters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
